Sidewheel Steamer/Hospital Boat
  • Built in 1857 at Cincinnati, OH.
  • Launched in 1857
  • Operated on the Missouri River between St. Louis and St. Joseph, Mo.
  • Acquired by the US Sanitary Commission Western Medical Department in 1862 for use as a floating hospital
  • Turned over to the Union (US Army) in 1864 for use on the Mississippi River and tributaries
  • A total of 23,737 soldiers were transported from battlefields to northern hospitals
  • Retired from US Army service in 1865
  • Sold, 14 March 1865, to private owners
  • Renamed Ned Tracy, 1 February 1866
  • Final Disposition, snagged and lost at Chester, Il., 18 December 1867
