Enterprise (SP 790)


Enterprise served the U. S. Navy, Department of Commerce and the U.S. Army
Motorboat:

  • The sixth Enterprise was built by Frederic S. Nock, Inc., East Greenwich, RI
  • Purchased by the Navy from Elsie C. Stewart of East Greenwich for $24,101.42
  • Placed in service as Enterprise (SP 790), 6 December 1916
  • Delivered to the Navy 25 September 1917
  • Transferred 2 August 1919 to the Bureau of Fisheries for use in fish-cultural work on the Maine coast
  • Registered in 1927 to the United States Shipping Board as the towboat Enterprise, homeported at the Army Supply Base, Norfolk, VA
  • Registered in 1929 to the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps as the launch Enterprise, homeported at Fort Washington, MD
  • Registered in 1932 to Charles E. McCoy of North Baltimore, MD as the yacht Enterprise
  • Registered in 1933 to Henry G. Stillgebaur of White Plains, NY as the yacht Enterprise
  • Registered in 1948 to E. H. Lupton of Baltimore, MD as the yacht Murru
  • Fate unknown.
