Named for Gen. William M. Graham, who served as a general officer in the United States Army in both the American Civil War and the Spanish-American War

USAMP Gen. William M. Graham, was the first US Army vessel designed to be a combined mine planter and cable ship

Stationed at Fort Sherman, Canal Zone, as of January 1919

Further assigned to the Coast Defenses of Cristobal, 9 November 1920, typically docked at the mine wharf at Fort Sherman

Personnel assigned to General William M Graham were concurrently assigned to Headquarters Battery, 1st Coast Artillery, 30 June 1924

Personnel relieved from Headquarters Battery, 1st Coast Artillery about August 1926

Awarded “E” for mine planting efficiency in 1937

In coordination with the USAMP Lt. Col. Ellery W. Niles, in June-August 1940 USAMP Gen. William M. Graham installed the wartime minefields that protected the Panama Canal Zone

Decommissioned and sold to Panama in 1945, renamed SS Panama City

Dropped off the list of US Merchant Vessels after 1949

Final Disposition, scrapped in 1948
