Freight-Supply Vessel
  • Laid down, circa 1944, as the Design 381 Freight-Supply Vessel FS-550 for the US Army at Calumet Shipyard, Chicago. IL.
  • Launched in 1944
  • Delivered to the US Army Quartermaster Corps between July and December 1944
  • Assigned to the US Army Transportation Corps
  • Commissioned USAV FS-550, 21 December 1944 at Los Angeles, CA, LT J. F. Anderson, USCGR in command
  • FS-550 was was assigned to and operated in the Southwest Pacific area. FS-550 dragged her anchor and went aground. The FS-549 in an effort to assist her fouled her propeller and was unable to pull herself clear. The LT-636, Coast Guard-manned, anchored off FS-549, then secured to the dock and clear of the bottom, and towed her to safe anchorage; then anchored off the FS-550 and pulled her clear to a safe anchorage. No serious damage resulted.
  • Decommissioned, 24 September 1945.
  • Sold, date unknown to a Philippines Shipping company, named MV Bohol, reflagged Philippines
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
