Siam Duffey

Castle Class Trawler:

  • Built in 1918 as the Fishing Vessel Fontenoy by Bow McLachlan and Company Paisley, Scotland for Rhondda Fishing Co., Ltd., Grimsby, England
  • Launched 6 November 1918
  • Acquired by the Royal Navy in 1918 and placed in service as HMT Fontenoy
  • Leased to the U.S. Navy 28 May 1919 and commissioned UST Siam Duffey the same day
  • Struck from the Navy list 1 October 1919 and returned to the Admiralty
  • Sold in 1922 to Soc. Anon. Armement Ostendais A/S, Ostend, Belgium and renamed Edouard Anseele
  • Acquired by the Royal Navy in February 1940 and renamed HMT Fontenoy (FY 3684)
  • Sunk 19 November 1940 by German aircraft northeast of Lowestoft, England.

  • Armament: One 12-pounder
