Wieldrecht (ID 2519)

Tanker:

  • Built in 1913 by the Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij, Yard No. 38, Rotterdam, Holland
  • Confiscated by the United States Shipping Board (USSB) 21 March 1918
  • Acquired by the Navy 4 April 1918 at New York and commissioned USS Wieldrecht (ID 2519) the same day
  • Decommissioned and returned to the USSB
  • Reacquired by the Navy and recommissioned 17 June 1918 at Montevideo, Uruguay
  • Decommissioned 8 April 1919 at Philadelphia, PA and returned to the USSB
  • Returned to her owners, Ph. van Ommeren's company N. V. Maatschappij Stoomschip Wieldrecht on 10 April 1919
  • Sold 6 March 1930 to Rederij H.v.d.Zee of Rotterdam and renamed Myriel
  • Sold in 1932 to the Euxine Shipping Co., Ltd. of London, England
  • Torpedoed 13 December 1941 by the German submarine U-431 which fired a spread of three torpedoes with one hit. Managed to return to Alexandria, Egypt at 3 knots where she was repaired and used
    as a water carrier
  • Sold in 1947 to Citmar Italiana Transporti Marittimi of Genoa, Italy and renamed Miriella
  • Laid up in La Spezia, Italy in 1954
  • Scrapped in 1955 at La Spezia.

  • Draft 20' 5½"
  • Speed 10.5 kts.
  • Complement 52
  • Armament: One 5"/51 and one 3"/50 mount
  • Propulsion: Two single ended and one auxiliary boiler, one 1,500hp vertical triple expansion steam engine, one shaft.
