  • Laid down 6 June 1942 by the Hiltebrant Dry Dock Co., Kingston, NY
  • Launched 10 August 1942
  • Commissioned PC-733, 11 January 1943
  • Reclassified SC-733 in April 1943
  • Visited Auckland, New Zealand 19 - 30 November 1944
  • Decommissioned 10 December 1945
  • Struck from the Naval Register 3 January 1946
  • Transferred to the Maritime Commission 1 April 1948
  • Acquired in 1949 by Calvin Armstrong of Eureka, CA for use as a fishing boat and named Cherokee
  • Acquired in 1956 by Coastal Towing and Salvage of Long Beach
  • Acquired in 1960 by the Pacific Inland Navigation Co., Inc. of Vancouver, WA for use as a tug boat
  • Acquired in 1961 by the Northwest Towing and Salvage Co. of Seattle, WA
  • Stranded 5 November 1969 in Golovnin Bay, AK.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 94 t.
  • Length 110' 10"
  • Beam 17'
  • Draft 6' 6" (fl)
  • Speed 15.6 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm mount, one/two twin .50 cal. machine guns, two/three depth charge projector "K Guns", 14 depth charges with six single release chocks and two sets Mk 20 Mousetrap rails with
    four 7.2 projectiles
  • Propulsion: Two 800bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, two shafts.
