SC-203 served both the U. S. Navy and Coast Guard
SC-1 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Built by the General Shipbuilding and Aero Corp., Alexandria, VA
  • Commissioned USS SC-203, 25 April 1918
  • Transferred to the Coast Guard 21 November 1919 at Key West, FL and named USCGC Larsen (CGSC 203)
  • Named for Master-at-Arms Ludvig Andres Larsen, USCG a member of the torpedoed USCGC Tampa, lost during World War I. Larsen was awarded the Navy Cross
  • Loaned to the Prohibition Commissioner on 10 March 1922
  • Laid up 26 November 1922 at Coast Guard Depot South Baltimore, MD
  • Decommissioned 1 January 1923
  • Sold 11 December 1925 to George Johnson of Baltimore, MD for $493.00
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 85 t.
  • Length 110'
  • Beam 14' 9"
  • Draft (fl) 5' 8"
  • Speed 18 kts.
  • Complement 27
  • Armament: One 3"/23 gun mount, two .30 cal. machine guns and one depth charge projector
  • Propulsion: Three 220bhp Standard gasoline engines, three shafts.
