Bangor served the Navies of the United States and Mexico
Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate:

  • (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally designated Patrol Gunboat, PG-124
  • Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-16, 15 April 1943
  • Laid down 20 May 1943 under a Maritime Commission Contract by the American Shipbuilding Co., Lorain, Ohio
  • Launched 6 November 1943
  • Delivered 22 August 1944
  • Commissioned USS Bangor (PF-16), 22 November 1944
  • Decommissioned 15 April 1946 at Pearl Harbor, HI 15 April 1946 and transferred on loan to the Coast Guard
  • Returned to U.S. Navy custody 16 August 1946
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission 24 November 1947, sold to Mexico and renamed ARM General Jose Maria Morelos
  • Renamed ARM Golfo de Tehuantepec
  • Scrapped in 1964.

  • Armament: Three 3"/50 dual purpose gun mounts, two twin 40mm gun mounts, nine 20mm guns, one Hedgehog depth charge projector, eight Y-gun depth charge projectors, and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 240psi 3-drum express boilers, two 5,500ihp verticle triple expansion Diamond Iron Works engines, two shafts.
