BPT-21 Class Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 2 April 1942 as BPT-41 by Robert Jacob Shipyard, City Island, Bronx, NY
  • Launched 20 August 1942
  • Completed 17 March 1943, transferred to Great Britain for use with the Royal Indian Navy and named HM MTB-299
  • Returned to U.S. Navy custody 15 March 1946 and transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission
  • Struck from the Naval Register 12 April 1946
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 49 t.
  • Length 73'
  • Speed 40 kts.
  • Armament: One twin .50 cal. Vickers machine gun in Mk V turret, two 21" torpedoes and two depth charges
  • Propulsion: Three 1,500shp Packard W-14 M2500 gasoline engines, three shafts.
