YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 13 January 1943 by the Gibbs Gas Engine Co., Jacksonville, FL
  • Launched 29 May 1943
  • Completed 15 November 1943 and commissioned USS YMS-354
  • Struck from the Naval Register 28 January 1947
  • Transferred to South Korea 6 April 1947 and named Kang Jim (YMS 501)
  • Later renamed Geumgangsang and Gangjin
  • Scrapped in 1959.

  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts, and two depth charge projectors
