YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down as YMS-186, 12 May 1942 by Greenport Basin and Construction Co., Long Island, NY
  • Launched 22 August 1942
  • Completed 27 February 1943 and transferred to the Royal Navy as HMS J-986
  • Renamed HMS BYMS-2186
  • Returned to U.S. Navy custody 15 December 1943, transferred to Greece and named Leros (M 210)
  • Given outright to Greece 22 July 1952
  • Struck from the Naval Register 8 September 1952
  • Struck from the Greek Navy list in 1966
  • Fate unknown.

  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge projectors
