    255k LCT(6)-1346, 11 May 1945, Dove Bay, ten miles east of Wewak, New Guinea. Members of the 6th Australian Division assault Sandy Beach. The Battle of Wewak Peninsula and airfield on the 11th to 15th of May, 1945. Australian forces were landed to surround Japanese forces at Wewak by US Navy LCT's LCT(6)-1340, LCT(6)-1346, LCT(6)-1351 and LCT(6)-1353 escorted by HMAS and HMS warships. During the landings LCT(6)-1346 engaged Japanese machine guns firing from shore; expending 1500 rounds of 20mm and 2600 rounds of .50 cal. destroying the enemy. Ref.
