Ex-USS LCI(L)-946 (Soviet Navy DS-49) participated in the Soviet invasion of the Japanese Kuril Islands between 18 August and 1 September 1945

Returned to US Naval custody in 1955 and struck from the Naval Register

1015094601	259k	USS LCI(L)-946 off the beaches of Southern France, 15 August 1944, after unloading her initial complement of US Army troops from the 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division at Red Beach starting at 1254 hours After retracking from the beach USS LCI(L)-946 returned to the main transport area. She started reloading at 1432 hours after mooring alongside SS Santa Rosa embarking 250 troops of the 6th Corps onboard (seen in these images). These troops were also transported to Red Beach. After this run to to Red Beach *LCI(L)-946* return to Naples, Italy.
