Captain Jimmie J. Jensen III, USN
Commanding Officer

Captain Jimmie Jensen is a native of Bridgeport, Nebraska. He earned a Bachelor of Science in General Science from the United States Naval Academy in 2000 and a Master of Arts in Information Technology Management from Webster University. He was commissioned in June 2000 and was designated a Surface Warfare Officer in 2002.

At sea, CAPT Jensen served in USS BRISCOE (DD-977) as Auxiliaries Officer, USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD-43) as Assistant Operations / Training Officer, and USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD-49) as Operations Officer. He served on the afloat staffs of Commander, Amphibious Squadron ELEVEN as the N3 (Current Operations) and on Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN as the N5 (Future Operations/Plans). CAPT Jensen commanded USS GERMANTOWN (LSD-42) following his fleet up from Executive Officer.

Ashore assignments include Surface Placement officer at Naval Personnel Command (PERS-413) and Flag Secretary for Commander, Navy Installations Command. CAPT Jensen served on the Joint Staff as Joint Force Coordination Division Chief in J-35 and is fully Joint Qualified.

CAPT Jensen’s personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and various unit and campaign awards. He reported to the Precommissioning Unit BOUGAINVILLE as Executive Officer in December 2023 and will fleet up to Commanding Officer in 2026.
