  • Built as Resolute, 1860 at Keyport, NJ
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Acquired by the War Department, May 7, 1861
  • Transferred from the War Department to the Navy, 30 September 1862
  • Placed in service as Myrtle, 15 October 1862
  • Assigned to RADM. David Dixon Porter's Mississippi Squadron
  • During the remainder of the Civil War she operated at Cairo, IL., providing tug and towing services for the squadron and serving as a dispatch boat on both the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers
  • Transferred to Naval Station Mound City, 8 August 1865
  • Sold at public auction 17 August 1865 to E. H. Ellis for $5,650
  • Final Disposition, boilers exploded on the lower Mississippi, 28 January 1897, killing one man
