  • Laid down, 15 January 1944, as a Maritime Commission type (C1-M-AV1) hull under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 2160), at Leathem D. Smith Shipbuilding Co., Sturgeon Bay, WI.
  • Classified AK-206 on 25 February 1944
  • Launched, 2 July 1944
  • Acquired from the Maritime Commission on a loan-charter basis 28 February 1945
  • Redesignated Miscellaneous Auxiliary AG-94 on 12 March 1945
  • Converted to a Gwinnett Class Aviation Stores Issue Ship
  • Commissioned USS Pontotoc (AG-94), 22 March 1945, LCDR. Charles W. Lockard, USNR in command
  • During World War II USS Pontotoc was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater
  • Redesignated (AVS-7), 25 May 1945
  • Pontotoc reported for duty in July at Guiuan, Samar, Philippine Islands were she provided aviation stores on station though the end of the war
  • Decommissioned, 26 April 1946, at San Francisco, CA.
  • Transferred to the Maritime Commission for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 8 May 1946
  • Sold for Merchant service in 1947 to the French company, Messageries Maritimes, renamed MV Taurus
  • Resold in 1960 to Morocco, renamed MV Tadjera
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
