  • Laid down, 9 April 1945, as a Maritime Commission type (T2-SE-A2) tanker hull under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 2697) at Marinship, Sausalito, CA.
  • Launched, 28 June 1945
  • Acquired by the US Navy and commissioned USS Cohocton (AO-101), 25 August 1945, LCDR. Joseph A. Houston, USNR, in command
  • During World War II USS Cohocton was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater
  • Following World War II USS Cohocton was assigned to Occupation service and China service for the following periods;

    China Service Medal (extended)
    5 November 1945 to 24 April 19465 November 1945 to 24 April 1946
     17 June to 8 July 1956

  • Decommissioned, 14 June 1946, at Mobile, Al. and returned to the Maritime Commission the same day
  • Laid up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Mobile, AL. Group
  • Withdrawn from reserve, 20 October 1947, reacquired by the US Navy, operated under contract for the Navy Transportation Service (NTS) by Tankers Co.
  • Merged into the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS), 1 October 1949, placed in service as USNS Cohocton (T-AO-101)
  • Placed out of service and struck from the Naval Register, date unknown
  • Transferred to the Maritime Administration (MARAD), 8 January 1958, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
  • Withdrawn from reserve, 27 September 1967, MARAD Exchange Program, Hudson Waterways Corp., renamed SS Transoneida
  • Converted to containership in 1969
  • Operated by Matson Line, dates unknown
  • Sold, 16 September 1969, to C.I.T. Corp.
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 29 July 1980, to Keun Hwa Iron & Steel Work Enterprise, Ltd. for scrapping in Taiwan
