  • Purchased by the Navy from builder, 21 December 1940
  • Placed in service as Cockenoe (YN-47), 31 December 1940
  • Converted for naval service by Naval Station, Key West, completed 15 February 1941
  • Towed to Pearl Harbor, arrived 15 June 1941
  • Assigned to Fourteenth Naval District, 1941-1947
  • Reclassified District Craft Net Tender Tug YNT-15, 01 May 1942
  • Cockenoe was present at Pearl Harbor, 07 December 1941
  • Placed out of service, 18 January 1947
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 25 February 1947
  • Transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal, 16 July 1947
  • Registered to Higman Towing Co., Port Arthur, TX, as tug Charles E. Brown (ON 254460), 1948
  • Registered to Southern Towing Co., Orange, TX, renamed Southern I, 1957
  • Registered to C. Wayne Holder, Freeport, TX, 1971
