  • Built in 1918 as War Speed by the Standard Shipbuilding Corp., Shooters’ Island, New York, NY for the Cunard Steamship Co.
  • Renamed Montclair prior to completion
  • Launched 30 March 1918
  • Acquired by the Navy 18 August 1918 at Brooklyn, NY and commissioned USS Montclair (ID 3497) the same day
  • Decommissioned 7 July 1919 at Norfolk, VA and returned to the United States Shipping Board
  • Scrapped in 1937 at Baltimore, MD.

  • Length 377'
  • Beam 52'
  • Draft 23' 8¼"
  • Speed 10.5 kts.
  • Complement 90
  • Armament: One 4"/50 and one 3"/50 mount
