SC-1 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down at Puget Sound Navy Yard, Bremerton, WA
  • Commissioned 25 March 1918
  • Laid up at Mare Island Navy Yard, CA
  • Sold 13 March 1922 to Karl Henry Scheel of Seattle, WA for use as a yacht and named Tenino
  • Acquired in 1927 by Arthur Reynold Maeser of Hackensack, MN and renamed Pandora
  • Acquired in 1940 by Jack Conrad Anderson of Seldovia, AK for use as a freighter and renamed Monterey
  • Acquired by the Navy, designated as a District Patrol Craft, YP-401 and transferred 22 January 1944 to the Coast Guard for patrol duty between Cape Ommany and Cape Muzon
  • Returned to Navy custody 24 October 1945
  • Acquired in 1946 by Jack Westfall of Juneau, AK for use as a freighter and again named Monterey
  • Acquired in 1949 by Robert W. Vernon of Juneau for use as a yacht
  • Registered as a fishing boat in 1953
  • Acquired again in 1958 by Jack Westfall of Sitka, AK
  • Acquired in 1970 by Richard Patrick Berry of Kenmore, WA
  • Out of documentation in 1984
  • Fate unknown.

  • Draft 5' 8"
  • Speed 18 kts.

  • Armament: One 3"/23 gun mount, two .30 cal. machine guns and one depth charge projector "Y Gun"
