Hoquiam served the Navies of the United States, the Soviet Union and South Korea.
Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate:

  • (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Laid down under a Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 1423) 10 April 1943 as Patrol Gunboat, PG-113 by the Kaiser Cargo Co., Yard No. 4, Richmond, CA
  • Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-5, 15 April 1943
  • Launched 31 July 1943
  • Commissioned USS Hoquiam (PF-5), 8 May 1944
  • Decommissioned 16 August 1945 at Cold Harbor, Alaska
  • Leased to the Soviet Union under the Lend-Lease Program 16 August 1945 and named EK-14
  • Returned to U.S. custody 1 November 1949 at Yokosuka, Japan
  • Recommissioned 27 September 1950
  • Decommissioned 5 October 1951
  • Leased to the Republic of Korea and named Nae Tong (PF-65)
  • Struck from the Navy Register 1 August 1972
  • Sold 1 October 1973 under the Security Assistance Program to the Republic of Korea and scrapped later that year.

  • Length 303' 11"
  • Beam 37' 6"
  • Draft 13' 8"
  • Speed 20.3 kts.
  • Complement 190
  • Armament: Three 3"/50 dual purpose gun mounts, two twin 40mm gun mounts, nine 20mm gun mounts, two depth charge tracks, eight depth charge projectors and one depth charge projector (hedgehog)
  • Propulsion: Two 3-drum expansion boilers, two 5,500ihp J. Hendy Iron Works vertical triple expansion engines, two shafts.
