PCE-842 Class Patrol Escort:

  • Laid down in 1943 by the Albina Engine and Machine Works, Portland, OR
  • Launched in 1944
  • Construction cmpleted in November 1944
  • Commissioned USS PCE-883 in 1945
  • Reclassified as a District Degaussing Vessel, YDG-10 in June 1944
  • Named Deperm and reclassified as a Degaussing Ship, ADG-10
  • Decommissioned in November 1947 and placed in reserve
  • Struck from the Navy Register 21 February 1975
  • Sunk as a target 22 September 1982 off Long Beach, CA at 32° 58' N., 119° 41' W.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 850 t.
  • Length 184' 6"
  • Beam 33' 1"
  • Draft 9' 5"
  • Speed 15.7 kts.
  • Complement 99
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose mount, and three twin 40mm mounts
  • Propulsion: Two 900bhp General Motors 12-567A diesel engines, two shafts.
