	392k	*USS Nahant* (AN-83) doing maintenance work on the submarine nets at Naval Air Station at Quonset Point R.I. in Narragansett Bay in 1961. Nathant's job was to clean, repair and replace the net. During this operation, the ship would place three anchors in a triangular pattern which allowed the ship to be moved along the net. Each anchor was marked with a marker buoy which floated on the surface. One afternoon, President John F. Kennedy and his family came cruising over in the presidential yacht, Honey Fitz to watch our operation . Unfortunately, the Captain of the Honey Fitz** got too close to one of our marker buoys and fouled a prop. We had to send one of our divers below to untangle the line, while the presidential party poured another drink and toasted us. The captain of USS Nahant at this time was LT. B.W.
